The Paris team tested it during that summer season and ended up winning 1st and 2nd place at the U.S. National Championships in Las Vegas. This new formula features a caster-based oil package that allows engines to be tuned into the "red zone" for maximum performance and fuel mileage without over-lean bogging. For experienced racers/tuners, Blue Thunder Race Formula allows the broadest possible tuning range, allowing for over-peak lean settings for maximum performance and fuel mileage, while minimizing over-lean bogging. Blue Thunder Race Formula was introduced the following spring.
