How-To: Losi 1/36-scale truck brushless conversion

Losi’s 1/36-scale series of vehicles cram a ton of performance into a very small package. From the 1/36-scale Raminator to the Micro-T and Micro-Desert Truck you have a number of different options if you’re looking for a ton of fun. One of the easiest ways to add speed and performance
to your truck is to add one of Losi’s 1/36-scale brushless systems. Due to the
design of the stock receiver and ESC you’ll need to take a few extra steps to
perform this conversion. Never fear as this is actually a relatively easy process
that we’re going to run through for you.

Losi 1/36 Micro Desert Truck RTR

Items Required for this Conversion:
Losi 1/36-scale Brushless System   LOSB9594
Losi 27MHz AM Receiver and 3-wire Servo Combo   LOSB0830

Optional Items for this Conversion:
Losi Micro Screw Driver   LOSB1602
Spektrum SR3500 Micro Receiver   SPM1210

I am not going to go through the detailed disassembly and re-assembly process here; that’s all covered in both the manual and the video. However, there are several tips I’ll share with you.

Micro-Car StandYou’re going to be working with a ton of tiny screws throughout this process and keeping track of them can be a challenge.The Losi Micro-Car Stand and Parts Tray can make keeping track of your parts and screws that much easier.

Ball Bearings Header

Ball BearingsIf you’re willing to add a brushless system to your truck, I’m hoping you have upgraded to full ball bearings. The plastic bushings that support the wheels simply aren’t up to the task. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple bucks on the bearing set. I promise you won’t regret it.

Slipper Clutch Header

Slipper ClutchThe stock gears can hold up to the abuse the stock motor and ESC hand out with relative ease, but the torque of a brushless motor will place more stress and strain on these tiny gears. You can extend the life of your gear train by properly adjusting your slipper clutch.
