When you first get started with an RC car, truck, boat or aircraft you're more than likely going to start off with a ready-to-run of some sort. These types of vehicles make it much easier to get up and running as the majority of the hard work has been done for you. The vehicle comes out of the box completely assembled, the running gear has been installed for you and often the most you'll need to do is mount a wing or install an antenna tube. What happens after you've been running for awhile and you need to replace a broken part? What happens if you want to change the shock oil?

You're going to need the right tools and supplies in order to make repairs and perform maintenance properly. While just about all RTR's come with a set of basic allen wrenches, a 4- or 5-way wrench and some other rudimentary tools to perform the most basic of service on your vehicle. Often those tools are crafted out of a soft metal that can bend or brake or even strip out the heads of your screws. We've put our heads together to come up with a list of the top can't-live-without tools and supplies we keep in our pit boxes and use most. From hand tools to shock oil, motor spray to pit mats this is what you'll need to properly maintain your vehicle.  In addition to what we highlight in the video we also have some extra items that you may want to have nearby.

Thread Lock
If you're running a nitro vehicle you'll become very familiar with thread lock. Any time you have a fastener that threads into a metal fitting or coupler you'll want to use a small amount of this stuff to keep your screws from vibrating loose.
Turnbuckle Wrench
If you have a car or truck with adjustable turnbuckles you need, need, need one of these. What I love about this turnbuckle wrench from Dynamite is that the mouth of the wrench has a stepped configuration that fits just about any turnbuckle I have ever used.
Li-Po Sack
We've mentioned it numerous times but this bears repeating. If you are charging a Li-Po battery pack you need to have a Li-Po sack of some type. They are designed out of a flame-resistant material that, in the unlikely event you do have a Li-Po catch fire, it will protect you and those around you. Speaking of Li-Pos…
Battery Transport Pouch
Transport your Li-Po batteries and protect them at the same time with this transport pouch from Dynamite. Similar in design to their tool pouch the Battery Transport Pouch makes it easy to keep your batteries organized.
Engine Tuning Screwdriver
If you're driving a nitro vehicle of some type you're going to appreciate having one of these in your pit box before your car or truck has even finished the break-in process. What's especially nice about the Temp-Tuner screwdriver is that it has a built-in temperature sensor on it, so you'll know exactly what the temperature of your engine is without needing a separate gun.
